Wednesday, 26th September

Board members (and observers)
World Link for Law Board Meeting - Salon Latour, (ground floor), Langham Hotel, 4.00pm

Delegates and Spouses/Guests
Pre-dinner drinks and 3 course dinner at the Kingfish Hall restaurant, Faneuil Hall South (7.00pm for 8.15pm dinner; meet in lobby at 6.45pm). Pre-book as extra event, if required.

Thursday, 27th September

Conference programme (see below) - 8.45am - Margaux Room - first floor - rear side of hotel
Buffet lunch - (delegates only)- 1.00pm - the Esplanade (outside the Margaux suite)

Guided tour: Walking Tour of Beacon Hill. An inside look at 19th century Beacon Hill with lunch. (10.30am to 3.00pm - meet in lobby at 10.00am for transfer by taxis.)

Delegates and Spouses/Guests
On Thursday evening, after the first conference day, there will be a traditional Massachusetts lobster Clam Bake dinner at the Boston Aquarium, supported by the Mellon Bank of Boston. 7.15pm: meet in Hotel lobby to walk to harbour front.

Friday, 28th September

Annual General Meeting of World Link for Law at 2.15pm

Guided tour: Back Bay Gallery stroll along Newbury Street & lunch (10.00 am to 3.00pm. Meet in lobby at 9.30am for transfer by taxis.)

Delegates and Spouses/Guests
External pre-dinner drinks at the (adjacent) University of Massachusetts Club at 7.15pm (kindly hosted by the United States Trust Company, Boston), followed by dinner in the Julien restaurant of the Langham Hotel at 8.30pm. (Meet in lobby at 7.00pm)

Saturday, 29th September

Delegates and Spouses/Guests
Guided city tour (10.00am to 3.45pm - meet in lobby at 9.45am) including city street and Charles Lake Duck tour (amphibious vehicle), short walking tour of the North End, to re-live the events that sparked the Revolution, with a visit to the Old North Church and Italian lunch with entertainment.

Dress Code: business suits or jacket/tie for conference meetings; for all other events- smart/casual. N.B. for the Saturday tour - bring a waterproof for the Duck tour, although one can be provided if required.

Conference Business Programme (Thursday 27th & Friday 28th September)

The draft programme is as follows:

  • Collaborative Law & International Mediation - panel session led by guest academic professors from local Universities.

  • Insight into the workings of Congress and public relations of a Senator- Scott Ferson - PR Consultant/former PRO for Ted Kennedy.

  • Practice management issues: Selling Legal Services; and Exceptional Client Care - led by Mac Mackay of Duncan Alexander & Wilmshurst, UK. Two practical sessions of 1.5 hrs each- topics requested by members in earlier research. One session will be presentation based (Selling by Professionals); the other workshop based after an initial presentation (Client Care). Both will be educational and interactive.

  • The UK's 'Alternative Investment Market' (AIM) flotations - the potential for investors

  • Enforcement of judgments in the USA

  • International business etiquette workshop, led by John Rourke & Tom Niemann of Reinert & Rourke PC, St Louis, Missouri, USA

  • The 'baby boom' period and inheritance/passing of wealth issues for family owned businesses.

  • General Assembly of World Link for Law (Friday)

The final agenda will be published and circulated nearer to the time of the conference.
